Because how long can one possibly go with an Internet presence without paying homage to cats?
If you don't, the Internet gods will frown, and as a consequence, the 21st century equivalent of blight will hit your land--the refrigerator gives out, the plumbing clogs, your child crashes the car, you develop some sort of chronic health condition ... you know.
This is a memorial piece to a feline personage Lulu who we can tell by her crown and use of imperial yellow, was probably a princess to whom this artist owed fealty. Judging from the tail and paws, probably Siamese (or should we call them Thai now?) Her Highness is winking, so apparently this royal girl had a sense of humor in her most recent of nine incarnations.
Actually all over Los Feliz you can find these poured-cement trash cans that have been adorned with mosaics. It's time to start putting them up for you all to see. This is the first. Watch this space in weeks to come, or just drive around Los Feliz.
Oh, it's a blue day out on the coast. Supposedly going up to 80 Fahrenheit today.
