Dear Family, Friends, and Gentle Readers,
Happy Admission Day all you Californians, native and transplants! On this day in 1850, California was admitted to the Union as a non-slave state. Of course we still have unofficial slavery here in the Golden State which we uncover now and then and read about in the newspaper, but by and large we're still pretty free here.
Did you know that the first state capital was San Jose, and then Vallejo, and then Benicia, and then finally Sacramento? True. Now you know!
Oh, and here's your picture of the day from the southern part of the state:
Wednesday is my early to the office day. With hot days, all the particulate matter stays over the city in the air, but while it makes it harder to breathe, you do get interesting colors when the sun is low.
Here's the view from my porch in East Hollywood last night for contrast. See what I mean? Reds, pinks, oranges, etc.
The week is almost half over thanks to the holiday. Hope you're getting done what needs to get done. I'm sure not.
See you tomorrow, about this time.
Love,
Pops
Oh heck, here's just one more view not facing the sun ... there WAS a yellowish/gold tinge to the atmosphere making it more turquoise than usual today.

Be truthful and frank, but be polite. If you use excessive profanity, I'll assume you have some kind of character flaw like Dr. Wong. Tks!
