Malibu morning picture of the day - Tuesday, July 7, 2015

Dear Family, Friends, and Gentle Readers,

Today it was in the high 50s and drizzly on the coast in Malibu. Actually felt more like a winter morning here than summer.

You can barely see a horizon this morning.

Artist: Kashink, Rainbow Love Letter, paint on steel riot door.
Well, Since it's Tuesday I can't let you go without giving you some color. Here a pic from a riot door on a street in Hollywood called Orange. I don't know about your neighborhood, but mine has LOTS of riot doors on storefronts--they're like roll-top desktops but for stores with large plate glass windows. You roll them down at night so that nobody throws a brick through your window.

Oh, and when we DO have riots (there have been two major ones in my lifetime), if you have two choices if the cops decide to give up: 1) you just open the door and let the looters come in take all your stuff and hope they don't kill you and trash the place; or 2) you get a can of spray paint and write on your roll-down riot door "Black owned," kinda like putting lamb's blood on the doorposts at Passover. (Don't know if that actually worked for anyone...).

Anyway, a lot of people think riot doors are ugly and contribute to inner-city blight, therefore trust our intrepid street artist of L.A.  to try to make them beautiful. We have a rainbow person sealing a love letter.

Have a wonderful Tuesday.

Love,
Pops

Be truthful and frank, but be polite. If you use excessive profanity, I'll assume you have some kind of character flaw like Dr. Wong. Tks!
