Malibu morning picture of the day - Friday, June 12, 2015

Dear Family, Friends, and Gentle Readers,

It's Friday and it's murky out here on the coast.

Serial # JG15-09 (12)

Low clouds, kinda foggy, kinda drizzly. If you're working outside after about an hour you would be damp sort of day. No horizon. No second look worth seeing today either. I heard on the radio it's the 150th birthday of the poet Wm. Butler Yeats. (They call the sesquicentennial.) He's good, but you know the feature editor of a national program is reaching around when s/he/they go for Yeats. Oh well, I'm reaching too.

But let's get back and finish up the Pico Wall of Personalities.

No mistaking Marilyn Monroe and Ray Charles here. Somehow I don't think Marilyn Monroe would EVER put on aviators. I can't say "she wouldn't be caught dead" because here she is. And I see the artist drew the line at Ray and would not countenance anything but Charles' own sunglasses.

And in this pair here we come up with the problem of choosing a monochromatic palette for portraits and you are confronted a blonde. This is a fairly conventional compromise, sticking a black background behind the person's hair. The other is to simply outline it like a cartoon character. This has the result of making Marilyn stand out from the others, popping out. She IS also the only female as well.

Anyway, there you have them. Now doesn't this make you want to run right into this store and buy yourself a fifth of bacardi? I sure does me...  A nice star-studded wall in a star-struck town, and a lot of fun to drive past.

Hope you have plans for an interesting weekend. Take care of yourself.

Love,
Pops

Be truthful and frank, but be polite. If you use excessive profanity, I'll assume you have some kind of character flaw like Dr. Wong. Tks!
