Malibu morning picture of the day - Monday, January 12, 2015

Dear Family, Friends, and Gentle Readers,

Happy Monday to you all. It's time again for a fresh start, and here is your picture.

We've just come out of a rainy weekend. There is still some residual moisture in the air, and lots of puddles.
Here's the second look, just more of the same, but I wanted to see more blue on his page.

Christmas Decor That Will Not Die

Last week my eldest daughter communicated that my granddaughter (a baby) really seems to love Christmas decor and its bright colors, and she pondered (my daughter) when does Christmas end, and subsequently when should the decorations come down? (Hint: The answer is not as clear-cut as you would think...)

I was returning home via subway Sunday night and her question came to me as I was walking the few blocks back home, and I decided to photograph all of the houses that still had Xmas decor up (it was dark):

Blue and white only. Hannukah maybe?
If so, they're really late.

You have to love the Craftsman-style homes
that give you great shadows when porch lights are on.

Twin Christmas trees!
They look rather spooky lit like this, though.

This one is kind of a cheat. These neighbors  always keep
lights up in their driveway. There are always 2-3 old
men sitting out there at night, smoking and playing checkers or
some game involving the slapping of plastic disks.
Grunts, grumbles, and gutteral utterances seem to be part
of the play as well ...

That's a lighted Santa on the right, accompanied by
other Christmas characters...
We don't have one of the spectacular neighborhoods that are a destination site, but people do hang up lights. And since this IS an Armenian-heavy neighborhood, we're only five days out from actual Christmas celebrations, so we're maybe a little delayed.

So, if you are a late "un-decorator", take heart. You have plenty of company here in East Holly. I did suggest that this stuff needs to be down by Super Bowl Sunday, or you risk looking like Miss Havershim in Great Expectations.

That's it for today! Hope you have a wonderful week in store.

Love,
Pops

Be truthful and frank, but be polite. If you use excessive profanity, I'll assume you have some kind of character flaw like Dr. Wong. Tks!
