Malibu picture of the day and STReeT aRT THURSday- Thursday, December 11, 2014

Dear Family, Friends, and Gentle Readers,

Thursday is looking grey and cloudy. A big storm looms over the Pacific so says the weatherman, and so we are due for a drenching this afternoon and evening. I got in dry this morning; but I'm sure I will arrive home quite damp after the trudge from the subway stop.

There's a second view. Very similar but different enough for me.

Sometimes it takes a photo to show you that one cloud sits in front of another. It was not quite so evident standing outside, taking in this scene.

And yes, what do I have for you from the street artists of East Holly?

"Sexy Yellow Fish" (provisional title), paint on ceramic brick and wood door, artist "uneg", detail from larger mural.
This a detail from a lot of stuff on the wall of a building housing a party-supply store. From what I've seen, most street artists seem to be young men. Therefore, the attributes of attractive young women (if not the fecund female form itself) are often treated in these works. Large eyes, push-up bra (colorful lacy one at that!), and thick rubious lips. Despite all of her spines, she looks like she would be a soft armful to hug. A pretty joyful image gracing the corner of Heliotope and Santa Monica.

The artist's mark seems to be "uneg" on the lower right. There is more to this wall, but I will share at a later time. I need to go back when the light hits the whole thing better. There is also a man mounted on a steed and a couple of floating Cubist-like, African mask-like faces.

Tell everyone you caught a yellowfin today!

Love,
Pops

Be truthful and frank, but be polite. If you use excessive profanity, I'll assume you have some kind of character flaw like Dr. Wong. Tks!
