Malibu morning picture of the day - Wednesday, November 19, 2014

Dear Family, Friends, and Gentle Readers,

Sometimes an automatic camera gives you very improbable scenes (see below). Who ever heard of a morning sun risen this high not being able to brighten a sky?

Looking north
This is a little more like it. Though it is still a bit on the dark side. Whoever said "The camera does not lie," never took a series of pictures over time.

Hey, right now my favorite movie that is out in release is The Tale of the Princess Kaguya from Studio Ghibli. (It's a Takahata film, NOT Miyazaki.) Any filmmaker that can take impressionistic watercolor wash images like this and animate them and create characters who inhabit these landscapes and for whom you feel for, all across the barrier of foreign language and subtitles, gets my vote.

I keep saying I'm going to write a movie review, perhaps I will, but in the meantime, if this is playing anywhere near you and you have the opp to go view it, do. You will not be disappointed. It runs over 2 hours but you will not check yr watch.

Kaguya's attendant - my favorite supporting role
Well ... maybe I take that back. There was a couple behind me a few rows and the guy kept falling asleep and snoring ... so if you're more of a Spider-Man kind of cinephile, it might be an expensive nap; at least go to the English-language dub. I hope the snooze left him rested and refreshed for the usual post-movie athletics that couples like to partake in such that his escort was not left TOTALLY frustrated ...

But time to pay the rent. Ciao.

Love,
Pops

Be truthful and frank, but be polite. If you use excessive profanity, I'll assume you have some kind of character flaw like Dr. Wong. Tks!
