Malibu morning picture of the day - Monday, November 17, 2014

Dear Family, Friends, and Gentle Readers,

It's Monday. And once again, when the area fire alert is Red, the sky is blue. It's a fact of nature.

Very clear. The dry, hot winds have been blowing hard since Sunday. Here's the 2nd view.

Catalina is in the middle if you look hard enough.

My fellow "bandos" in concert black.

I also told you all my band played at Disneyland California Adventure yesterday. They don't want you taking pictures of the backstage area at all (it basically looks like nearly any industrial part of town with warehouses, forklifts, hydraulic pumps, and other equipment). However, I will say that even the backlot industrial areas are spotlessly CLEAN and tidy. THAT's what's different than other places.

But here's where we checked in as guest performers--it's the employee entrance.

The administration building there is highly curvilinear. You can sort of see it in the very limited-view pictures I could snap here outside the gate. In a weird "echo-ey" sort of way it reminds me of Disney Concert Hall in Downtown L.A.

From the Wikipedia page...

It's an interesting symmetry in structures with "Disney" names on them, no? I highly suspect that the Disneyland HR building was built first. Wonder if that architect ever thought about trying  to sue Frank Gehry for ripping him off.

I was not particularly proud of our group's performance yesterday. A lot of people "stepped into holes" (when someone misfires into a period of unison rest) and premature entrances. But the essence was there and a good time was had by all. We seemed particularly rushed by the management to get on and off stage, so I think focus was off kilter. Ensembles are funny that way--we're like a school of fish; if someone in one of the lead positions shifts left, we all go left.

Anyway ... have a wonderful week. Let's see what there is in store for us, shall we?

Love,
Pops

Be truthful and frank, but be polite. If you use excessive profanity, I'll assume you have some kind of character flaw like Dr. Wong. Tks!
